Stop Mix Using Generic Shampoo With Beard Wash

This topic has been discussed heatedly over the past few years. Recently we notice that some of our customers are still doing the wrong thing – they think that allowing the generic shampoo runs off of their head and down their faces while showering is a good enough cleaning regimen for their beard. Other customers are unconsciously doing the right thing, but it’s one thing to know that it works and yet another to know how it works.

So we are here today to explain to you in detail why we don’t suggest you mix use generic shampoo and beard wash, and how beard wash actually works. But before we jump in-depth, we’d like to talk about sebaceous glands first, as it's the crucial reason why we need different shampoo for hair on your scalp and face. Sebaceous glands are microscopic exocrine glands in the skin that secrete an oily or waxy matter, called sebum, to lubricate and waterproof the skin and hair of mammals. In other words, your hairs need the sebum oil generated from sebaceous glands to keep moisturized, thus avoiding your skin from dry, red, itchy and flaky. However, generally the sebaceous on the scalp generates much more sebum oil than them on your face.

Shampoo from the store is designed to strip sebum oil from your skin so that it does not make your hair look greasy and stuck together. All of us have consensus on how unappealing an oily head of hair can be, so it's pretty much necessary to rid your scalp of those excessive oils if this is a look you want to prevent. And you definitely don't want to wash these inadequate sebum oils off your face unless you want your beard to be dry and itchy.

Beard Wash does not contain harsh chemicals, because any good manufacturer of such a product knows that these natural oils are vital for a healthy beard. Natural ingredients like Jojoba oil used in Gentle Vikings Beard Wash offers a cleanse that is soft enough for your face but has the capabilities to handle the thicker, more dense beard hairs. It won't strip as much of the sebum oils away and will require less oil and products after a shower to keep it moisturized and healthy.
